From there we thought it was a good day to take advantage of the hot sun and clear skies. As such, we bought a pass for busses, trains, and ferries until the end of the day. So, we took a train from Central Station to Bondi Junction, where we hopped on a bus to Bondi Beech. The beech was solo pretty. It was its own self-contained harbor. On either side there were huge rocks jutting out into the ocean, and on the inside there were huge swells for surfers, leading up to soft sand for the rest. I do think we spent close to a good 4 hours, simply relaxing on the beech.
From there we started a walk from Bondi Beech to Bronte Beech. The walk would continue to Coogee, but we thought we may run out of time for our palms. Anyway, the walk was gorgeous, and a route that I would run ever...EVERY... day if I lived here. The route followed the coast, but all the time, on both sides the cliff of the coast was carved into amazing points and jags and crevasses. Meanwhile, the views were great, be it simply looking out into the ocean, or looking down the coast, where you could see beech after beech until obscured by the rocky points that separate them all.
We made our walk go around the next few small beeches until just before Bronte. There we hopped on another bus, to a train, back to the heart of Sydney. There we walked north a bit until we reached the harbor again. There we caught a 6 o'clock ferry to cross the harbor and take us to Manly on the other side. The views of the Opera House and Harbor Bridge were terrific from the water. Possibly the most notable thing in the water was the sailboats. SO MANY SAILBOATS!!! I stopped counting when we passed the ~50th...and then we turned a corner and the water was just white from so many boats. There must have been hundreds. It was pretty cool.
So we arrived in Manly at 6:30, and we found a great seafood restaurant/bar and sat down for dinner with a view into the harbor. We both ordered the King Prawn Linguine and it was delicious. Well cooked and even a bit spicy. We had no trouble at all finishing. We were then able to hop on the ferry back to Sydney while the sun began to set. This time, there were no sailboats on the water, but the sky behind the clouds was a terrific blend of pinks and purples. We also had some great views of the Opera House being illuminated.
From there we grabbed a bus back to the hostel where we called it a night.
